Dr.
Sylvia Greenman, D.V.M., Diplomate, American Board of Veterinary
Practitioners, Equine
Dr. Sylvia Greenman graduated from the University of California at
Davis in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science in Zoology and a Doctorate
of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She began practicing in
Southern California
at the Racetrack circuit upon graduation. In 2001, Dr.
Greenman left the racetrack to pursue a practice of lameness in the
sport horse around the Los Angeles area.
In 2005, after an extensive application and examination process, Dr.
Greenman became a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary
Practitioners in Equine Practice. She has also obtained
her Radiation Safety Officer license and Supervisory User license
for radioactive materials and helps to oversee the functioning of
the Southern California Equine Foundation, Inc. Nuclear Medicine
Facility at Santa Anita Race Track in beautiful Arcadia, California.
Dr. Greenman is also an associate professor at Western University,
School of Veterinary Medicine, and a preceptorship site for the
students. You will often see third and fourth year Veterinary
students with Dr. Greenman when she sees your horse, so don’t be
surprised! She also serves on the Student Relations Committee
of the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
Some of Dr. Greenman’s favorite pastimes include SCUBA diving,
underwater photography and traveling. She and her husband have
been to many exotic locales over the years diving and taking
pictures. Ask to see some photos sometime!
Jessica Anderson, Office Manager
Jessica was raised in Southern California and has been riding horses
almost all of her life. She was an exercise rider at the
Thoroughbred racetrack and has owned many ex-racehorses. She
even finds homes for retired Thoroughbreds once they leave the
track!
Jessica joined us in 2004 as a technician, and began working in the
office in 2008. She had worked many
years as a small animal technician in
Los Angeles
and her extensive knowledge of horses and her excellent horsemanship
skills has made her a wonderful addition to the team. She is
also a fountain of information when it comes to riding equipment,
especially bits, from her work experience at Broken Horn (where many
of you may recognize her from!). Please feel free to ask her
any question when you see her helping with your horse.
